Here’s Your 2026 Placencia Lobster Fest Itinerary
There are lobster festivals, and then there’s Placencia Lobster Fest.
Every year, the opening of Belize’s Spiny Lobster Season turns the usually chill and laidback Placencia Peninsula into one of the most buzzing destinations in the south, complete with tons of food, live entertainment, games, and, of course, fireworks. In fact, Placencia Lobster Fest promises enough to do to have a three-day itinerary that will keep you busy from Friday to Sunday. Thinking of heading south for a weekend? Here’s how to make the most of three unforgettable days in Placencia.
What You Need to Know About Placencia Lobster Fest

Placencia Lobster Fest takes place over three days, and this year it’s happening from July 3rd to 5th. Expect to encounter activities spread throughout the village, especially at the Point (found at the very tip of the Peninsula). If you’re planning to go, be sure to book your accommodation early. Placencia has something to suit every budget, but rooms do fill up quickly for festival weekends.
If you’re driving down, consider leaving early on Friday to beat the traffic and maximize your time in the village. Once you arrive, park the car and explore on foot. The festival grounds, restaurants, bars, and the famous Placencia Sidewalk are all within easy reach, making it easy to enjoy the weekend without worrying about transportation.
Belizean Traveller Tip: Arrive on Friday if you can. You’ll have time to settle in before the festival kicks into full swing and avoid the Saturday rush.
Day One: Arrive & Explore

Kick off your Lobster Fest weekend by arriving in Placencia early enough to soak in the “caye you can drive to” atmosphere before the evening festivities begin. Then, when the sun sets, enjoy dancing to performances by Belizean favourites including Chico Ramos, Newani Martinez, Ernestine Carballo, Jerome (Busa B Band) and more, backed by some of the country’s top bands and DJs.
Day Two: Food and Friendly Competition

Saturday starts bright and early with the Placencia Lobster Fest Fishing Tournament, where anglers head out before sunrise in search of the day’s biggest catch. Even if you’re not entering, it’s worth stopping by the Municipal Pier for the afternoon weigh-in.
The excitement continues throughout the day with lobster dishes from dozens of vendors, beach games, local artisans, and crowd favourites like the Barefoot Burger Eating Contest and Big Beck’s Spicy Wings Challenge.
Before you leave the festival grounds, be sure to grab a few tickets for the Grand Raffle. At just $2 per ticket, it’s one of the best bargains of the weekend, with dozens of exciting prizes donated by local businesses and sponsors waiting to be won.
Belizean Traveller Tip: Leave a little room in your itinerary to explore beyond the festival. Take a short boat ride across the lagoon to the new Balam Golf Course, where you can play a round, hit the driving range, enjoy lunch overlooking the greens, or simply relax by the pool. The complimentary boat transfer is a scenic experience in itself.
Day Three: One Last Taste of Placencia

Don’t leave before experiencing Sunday’s closing celebrations. The afternoon features one of the festival’s tastiest attractions—the Lobster Cook-Off, where participating vendors prepare their signature lobster dishes on-site for judging based on presentation and flavour.
It’s the perfect opportunity to sample some of the most creative lobster recipes of the weekend while cheering on your favourite chefs.
The final day also includes more live music, family-friendly activities, beach vibes, and one last chance to enjoy Placencia’s welcoming atmosphere before heading home.
